Small Shipping Boxes

Carriers calculate dimensional weight from the box, not the product, so a loose fit means paying to ship air, and small shipping boxes cut to the item fix that on every outgoing parcel. A compact footprint also resists bowing, so dense goods usually travel fine in single-wall board. The minimum is 100 boxes, and reorders move quickly once your dimensions are on file with us.

Small Shipping Boxes Cut Close to the Item

Put a small product in a box that's slightly too big and you can hear the problem: it rattles. The packer stuffs in paper or air pillows to stop it, which takes time at the bench and still leaves the item shifting in transit. Small shipping boxes fix that by fitting the item closely, with only the room an insert or tissue wrap needs. They're for products that fit in a hand: jewelry, cosmetics, phone accessories, supplements and samples. The aim is a box the item can't move around in, one that packs in seconds and needs no filling at all.

Small Shipping Box Internal Dimensions and Board Options

Fit is the whole point here, so dimensions get more care than anything else. We build the dieline from your product measurements and confirm in writing that the figures are internal, the space your item actually sits in.

Spec Options
Fit Internal dimensions taken from your product, plus room for any insert
Tolerance About ±1/16" (1.5mm)
Flute B-flute (about 3.2mm) for slim walls, or C-flute
Liners Coated white or brown kraft
Rating About 32 ECT single-wall

Many small boxes run on a white liner, and the materials page covers the lightweight printable board behind that surface.

Why Shrinking the Box Pays Off Twice

The first payoff from a smaller box shows up on the carrier invoice, which most sellers already know. The second shows up at the pack bench. A box cut to the item needs no void fill, so there's no paper to crumple, no pillows to buy and store, and no time spent stuffing gaps. These are usually built as small tuck-front mailers, which fold and lock in seconds, adding to the time saved. The customer also gets less to throw away. The trade-off is flexibility: a box cut tightly to one product won't take a different one, so brands with many small items usually settle on two or three sizes rather than one each.

Branding a Small Box When Panel Space Runs Out

On a small box every panel is short, so print has to be selective. A single logo on the lid, centered and sized to stay readable, usually does more than squeezing in a full design. Interior print gives you a second panel the size of the lid for a message or a pattern. A coated white liner takes full CMYK and spot colors, which helps when a small logo needs exact color. On kraft, one bold color reads best. Copy under 8pt fills in on fluted board, so say less and set it larger. Lamination is available on coated stock, though on a small box that's opened once we'd rarely recommend paying for it.

Small Shipping Boxes for Jewelry, Samples and Subscriptions

Rings, earrings and other small pieces are the obvious fit, often shipped in a small box with the retail case inside. Beauty brands send minis and samples. Supplement and vitamin sellers ship single bottles. Tech accessory brands ship cables, earbuds and phone cases. Subscription services with small monthly contents, such as socks, stationery or tea samplers, use one small size for every edition. Craft sellers use them for pins, patches and stickers that would get lost in a larger box. Anything fragile still gets an insert, even in a close-fitting box, because a tight fit stops movement but doesn't absorb a drop.

Ordering Small Shipping Boxes, From Proof to Pack Bench

Measure the product with any insert or retail case it ships in, send us those figures, and we'll build the dieline around them. Design help is unlimited and free until you're happy to approve the proof. Production then takes 8–12 business days, and rush is available at extra cost, quoted before you commit. A close-fitting box has no slack, and a cutting error of a few millimeters is exactly what the three-stage check on every box is there to catch before dispatch. Shipping is included in the price, whatever the quantity. Orders start at 100 boxes.

What brands say about this box

Answers before you have to ask.

Will a smaller box really lower my shipping bill?

Yes, and often more than people expect. Carriers bill on dimensional weight, which is calculated from the box size rather than what's inside it. A box cut to your product instead of approximately containing it lowers that charge on every parcel you send.

What's the smallest size you can make?

Small enough for most parcel and subscription work, though the practical limit is usually about what a courier will accept rather than what we can cut. Send us the product dimensions and we'll build the dieline around them.

Can small boxes still hold weight?

Yes, and proportionally more than large ones. A smaller footprint means less unsupported span, so the base resists bowing naturally. Dense, heavy items in a small box are usually fine in single-wall where a large box would need double.

How quickly can small boxes be made?

Most run in about 8–12 business days from proof approval, and reorders move quickly once your dimensions are on file. Rush is available at extra cost. Shipping is included, with a 100-box minimum.

What's your minimum on small boxes?

The same 100 boxes as every other size. Small boxes are where brands most often want to test before scaling, so the low minimum matters here. Reorders are quick once we have your dimensions on file.
