Lipstick Boxes
A lipstick tube that rattles in its carton reads cheap before the cap comes off, so our lipstick boxes are cut to your tube's actual diameter and height, never a standard size. Coated stock keeps full-color printing sharp, and a small foil crest on a matte background is the upgrade most cosmetics brands request. Orders start at 100 boxes, shipping included in the price.

Lipstick Boxes Cut to One Slim Tube
Of everything a beauty brand prints, the lipstick carton is usually the smallest and the most handled. It gets turned over at a counter, dropped into a bag, opened at a desk and often kept in a drawer until the bullet is used up. A lipstick box here is a single-unit folding carton made for one tube, with nothing inside it but the product. The buyers are color cosmetics brands, from founders launching a first shade to established lines adding a limited edition, plus private-label makers filling orders for retail clients. What they all need is the same: a carton that matches the tube's proportions, carries a clear brand mark on a very small face, and stays square after a dozen hands have picked it up.
Lipstick Carton Specs: Board, Tuck and Fit
Most lipstick cartons run on coated paperboard at the light end of the cosmetics range, because a single tube puts almost no load on the panels. These are the starting figures; the dieline itself is built from your tube's measurements, and the internal size is confirmed in writing before anything prints.
| Spec | Lipstick box |
|---|---|
| Board | SBS coated board, 14–16pt |
| Construction | Reverse tuck or straight tuck |
| Internal size | Cut to the tube's diameter and height |
| Tolerance | About ±0.5–1mm |
| Closure | Tuck flaps at both ends |
| Insert | Optional; most single tubes need none |
Measure with the cap on. Twist-up cases with a magnetic or square cap are often wider at the top than the base, and the carton is sized to that widest point.
Why a Close-Cut Tuck Carton Suits Lipstick
Most lipstick is packed in a reverse-tuck folding carton, and the reasons are mostly arithmetic. The tube is already the costly object; the box only has to frame it, protect the finish on the case and carry the brand. A folding carton does those three jobs for a fraction of what heavier construction costs, ships flat, and packs quickly by hand. Reverse tuck also puts the closure flaps on opposite faces, so the display front stays clean. Heavier builds belong to gift sets and collector editions that hold several products. For a core shade line sold one tube at a time, money spent on extra structure is money the shopper never sees, and it's better spent on print or a single finish.
Print and Finish Options That Fit a Lipstick Carton
Coated board takes full-color CMYK and Pantone spot colors, which matters when the carton is printed to echo the shade inside. On a face this small, the finishes that work are the restrained ones. Soft-touch lamination gives the matte hand most beauty brands want, though it shifts printed color slightly, so we proof after the film goes on. Spot UV picks out a logo against that matte field for little added cost. Hot foil and blind emboss are both available, but not stacked on the same mark, because soft-touch softens an emboss edge. What doesn't survive at lipstick scale is hairline type and thin script; both lose definition. Foil dies and plates are priced into the quote, so the finish you approve is the finish you pay for.
Lipstick Boxes for Shade Launches and Prestige Lines
Shade launches are the most common order: one carton structure printed per shade, so a range of eight reads as a family on the shelf. Limited editions use the same dieline with new artwork for a season or a collaboration, which keeps tooling out of the cost. Private-label makers order one neutral structure and print a version for each client. Lip kits pair a lipstick with a liner and move to a two-cavity carton rather than two separate boxes held together. At the top of the market, the carton is part of how higher-priced beauty lines justify their shelf price, and that's where soft-touch and foil earn their keep. For a drugstore-priced bullet, clean full-color print on coated board does the job, and that's what we'd recommend.
From Tube Measurements to a Finished Lipstick Carton
Start by sending a tube, or its diameter, height and cap shape. We build the dieline from those numbers, confirm the internal size in writing, and send a proof with your artwork laid on it. Design help runs alongside at no charge, for as many rounds as the artwork needs. Once you approve the proof, production takes 8–12 business days; rush is possible at extra cost, quoted before you commit. Every carton goes through a three-stage check before it ships, so a tuck that won't close or a misaligned foil is caught on our side. Shipping is already in the price. The minimum is 100 boxes per order, and if the bulk run doesn't match the proof you signed off, we reprint it at our cost.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.

How do you size a box to a lipstick tube?
We cut the carton to the tube's actual diameter and height rather than a standard size. Lipstick is small enough that a few millimeters of slack is visible immediately — it rattles and reads cheap. Send us the tube dimensions or a sample and we'll build around it.
Can lipstick boxes have foil on the logo?
Yes, and it's the most common upgrade in the category. A small foil crest on a matte field reads more expensive than a fully foiled panel, which tends to flatten. Keep the foil away from fold lines, where it can crack.
Will color match across my whole lipstick range?
It will if we proof on your actual stock. Color shifts between coated and uncoated board, and again under lamination, so a Pantone number alone isn't a guarantee. We proof the run and what you approve is what prints across every shade.
How long do lipstick boxes take to produce?
Most orders are ready in about 8–12 business days once you approve the proof. Rush is available at an extra cost, quoted upfront. Shipping is included, along with unlimited free design help.
What's the minimum order for lipstick boxes?
100 boxes, which is low enough to launch a single shade or test a new design before scaling. The same minimum applies whatever finish you choose, and design help is unlimited and free at any quantity.
