Lip Gloss Boxes
Lip gloss boxes have to manage a top-heavy tube: the applicator wand makes gloss taller than lipstick, and left loose it tips over and arrives label-down. A die-cut insert holds the base upright, while a film-backed window shows the real shade instead of an approximate printed swatch. Turnaround is 8–12 business days from proof approval, with rush available at extra cost.

Lip Gloss Boxes Sized for Taller Wand Tubes
Gloss is a common first product for a new beauty brand: it's inexpensive to make, ships easily and sells well online. That puts the box under two pressures at once. It has to look like it belongs to a real brand, and it has to cost little enough to make sense on a low-ticket item. A lip gloss box is a single-unit carton sized to a gloss tube with its doe-foot or brush applicator, usually with a die-cut insert inside. Buyers range from founders selling on social channels to brands supplying boutiques and salons. Many carry shimmer, tinted and clear versions under one name, so the box also has to make a range easy to read, with each shade identifiable from the front panel.
Lip Gloss Box Dimensions, Board and Insert Cavity
Gloss cartons run on smooth coated board in a light caliper, sized taller and narrower than a lipstick box to make room for the wand and cap.
| Spec | Lip gloss box |
|---|---|
| Board | SBS coated board, 14–16pt |
| Height | Tube plus cap, measured filled |
| Insert | Die-cut cavity gripping the tube base |
| Window | Optional, film-backed, shaped to the tube |
| Construction | Straight or reverse tuck |
| Tolerance | About ±0.5–1mm |
Send a filled tube rather than an empty one if you can. Caps on gloss are often wider than the tube body, and the cavity has to clear the cap while still holding the base. Where a range uses two tube sizes, each gets its own insert inside a shared outer carton.
Why Gloss Goes in a Tuck Carton With an Insert
Most gloss is boxed in a tuck-end carton with an insert inside, and the alternatives tend to lose on cost or presentation. An open sleeve shows the tube but leaves it free to slide out. A rigid box adds weight and price to a product that often retails cheaply. A bare carton with no insert is the cheapest option of all, right up until the returns arrive. The tuck carton with a cavity keeps the tube in one position from the pack bench to the customer's hand, and because the tube can't shift, the window and the front panel always line up with the label. A few brands use other builds for gift duos, and those can be quoted alongside.
Windows, Film and Print on Lip Gloss Cartons
Gloss boxes take the same print as other coated cartons: full-color CMYK, Pantone spot matches, and spot UV or hot foil on a logo. Where gloss differs is the window. Because the cavity fixes the tube's position, the cut-out can sit exactly over the color rather than wherever the tube happens to settle, and the artwork can be drawn to frame it. Clear window film sits behind the cut. Two things to plan for: a window removes printable area, so ingredient and shade copy moves to the sides or back, and heavily glittered formulas can look different through film than in the hand. Soft-touch lamination works on gloss cartons too, though many low-priced lines skip it, and skipping it is a reasonable call.
Lip Gloss Boxes for Gift Sets, Duos and Shade Drops
Shade drops, a new color or two added to an existing line, reuse the same carton and insert with fresh artwork. Gloss duos and trios move to a wider carton with one cavity per tube, which costs less than boxing each one separately and banding them together. Subscription and PR inserts often use a plain gloss box with a printed sticker, a sensible choice when quantities are small and the artwork changes monthly. Brands building holiday gift sets around a gloss usually pair it with a liner or balm in a shared tray. Salons and boutiques selling gloss at the till get the most from a window, since their customers choose by color and rarely open a box to check.
How a Lip Gloss Box Order Moves From Proof to Delivery
Send a filled tube or its measurements, the number of shades, and your artwork, even if it's still a draft. We draw the dieline and the cavity from the tube, put the internal size in writing for you to check, and return a proof. Revisions are free and unlimited until the layout is right. Production starts when you approve, and most gloss orders are ready 8–12 business days later. Rush is available at extra cost, quoted upfront. Every run passes a three-stage check, so a cavity cut too loose is found before the boxes leave, not by your customer. Pricing covers the die, plates and setup with nothing added afterward, and shipping is included. Orders start at 100 boxes.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.
Read all reviews on Trustpilot(opens in a new tab)Answers before you have to ask.
Will a gloss tube stand upright inside the box?
It will with an insert. Gloss tubes are taller and top-heavy because of the wand, so left loose they tip and slide. A die-cut cavity holds the base so the tube stays upright and the label faces forward when the box opens.
Can gloss boxes have a window?
It can. A film-backed cut-out lets the actual gloss color show, which sells better than a printed swatch since customers trust what they can see. We cut the window to suit the tube shape rather than using a standard shape.
Do gloss boxes need a heavier board?
Not usually. Gloss tubes are light, so the board is chosen for print quality rather than strength. What matters more is the insert — a well-cut cavity does more for protection here than a heavier caliper would.
What's the turnaround on lip gloss boxes?
Around 8–12 business days from proof approval, including the insert. Adding a cavity doesn't usually extend the timeline. Rush production is available at a premium we'll quote before you order.
Can I order several gloss shades together?
Yes, and it's cheaper than separate orders because setup is shared. Most brands keep one structure and change only the printed panel per shade, so you're not paying new tooling costs for each one.
