Wig Boxes
Wig boxes need clearance. A wig pressed into a tight carton arrives needing restyling, so we size around a form or insert that supports the crown, usually in a lid-and-tray or drawer build. Rigid suits premium and human-hair ranges, while corrugated costs less and handles direct shipping for synthetic lines. Either way, the minimum is 100 boxes and full-color printing is available.

Wig Boxes Sized Around a Form and the Style
A wig can be the most expensive beauty item a customer buys in a year, and it's often bought online without being tried on. The box is the first close look at hair the customer will wear daily, so it has to arrive with the product looking exactly as it did in the photographs. A wig box here is a roomy printed box with an insert or form inside to support the shape, made as a rigid box, a folding carton or a corrugated shipper. Buyers include human-hair wig brands, synthetic and fashion wig lines, salons producing custom units, and suppliers serving customers with hair loss, as well as theater and cosplay sellers.
Wig Box Specs: Clearance, Insert and Board
Wig boxes are sized from the wig on its form, not the wig alone. Premium ranges use grayboard wrapped in printed paper; everyday and ship-direct lines use folding board or corrugated.
| Spec | Rigid | Folding or corrugated |
|---|---|---|
| Board | Grayboard, 2–3mm | SBS 18–24pt, or E-flute about 1.6mm |
| Build | Lid-and-tray or drawer | Tuck carton or shipper |
| Interior | Form or crown insert | Form or card insert |
| Clearance | Above and around the style | Above and around the style |
| Lead time | 20 business days | 8–12 business days |
Measure the style on its form, including any volume at the crown, and the widest point around the sides. Long styles are measured from crown to tips with the hair laid as it will be packed.
Why Wigs Ship and Store Well in a Lid-and-Tray Box
Most wigs are packed in a separate lid and base because of how that box opens. Lifting a lid straight up never drags across the hair, so the style is undisturbed until the customer reaches in for the form. A tuck carton, by contrast, opens from one end and the wig has to be slid out past the flaps. A two-piece box also stores well: the customer lifts the lid, takes the wig out for the day and puts it back on its form at night. Drawer boxes are the main alternative and work in a similar way. A few synthetic lines ship in corrugated instead, where transit strength matters more than how the box opens.
Finishes for Human-Hair and Synthetic Wig Packaging
Finishing tends to follow the price of the hair. Human-hair wigs, which can cost many times more than synthetic, usually get a rigid box with soft-touch lamination or a textured wrap paper, a foil logo and print inside the lid. Synthetic and fashion wigs are often bought several styles at a time, so full-color print on folding board or corrugated, with no lamination, keeps the cost per box sensible. Corrugated takes simpler print than coated board: bold logos and solid color rather than photography. A window is possible on folding wig boxes, though most brands prefer to show the style through photography on the box, since a window reveals only part of the hair.
Wig Boxes for Human-Hair Ranges, Salons and Costume Lines
Human-hair brands sell high-value units and use the box as part of the price. Synthetic and fashion lines carry many styles and colors and need one box design across the range. Salons offering custom units hand the finished wig over in a branded box at the final fitting. Hair-loss suppliers often want discreet packaging, with the brand printed inside rather than on the lid. Costume, theater and cosplay sellers ship in corrugated boxes built for transit. Wig sellers that stock bonnets, scarves or clothing, or wholesale to clothing and fashion labels, usually match the wig box to that look so a mixed order arrives as one brand.
Rigid or Folding Wig Boxes: Timing and Minimums
The build decides the timeline. Allow 20 business days from proof approval for a rigid wig box; folding and corrugated boxes need 8–12. Rush is available on all three at an extra cost we quote upfront. Send the wig on its form, or its height, width and depth with the style in place, and we'll build the dieline and insert, then confirm sizes in writing before proofing. Design help is free and unlimited. Orders start at 100 boxes, and free samples come with orders above 10,000. Each box is inspected at three stages, shipping is included, and if bulk doesn't match the approved proof, a corrected run follows at our expense.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.

Will the wig keep its style inside the box?
It will with room for a form or insert inside. A wig compressed into a tight box loses its style and arrives needing restyling, so we size with clearance and add support where the crown sits.
What's the best build for a wig box?
Most wig boxes are a lid-and-tray or drawer build, since those give clearance and a controlled open. Rigid suits premium and human-hair ranges; corrugated works better if the box ships direct and needs transit strength.
Do wig boxes need to be rigid?
Not always. Rigid suits premium and human-hair ranges where the box is kept. For synthetic and volume ranges, a sturdy corrugated or folding build costs considerably less and still protects the style. Rigid takes 20 business days rather than 8–12.
How soon can I get wig boxes?
Folding and corrugated builds run about 8–12 business days. Rigid wig boxes take 20 business days. Rush is available on both, priced upfront, with shipping included.
What's the minimum order for wig boxes?
100 boxes. For rigid builds the same minimum applies, though allow 20 business days rather than 8–12. Free samples are available on orders above 10,000 units.
