Hair Extension Boxes

Hair extension boxes run long and flat, because bundles folded to fit a shorter box arrive creased. We size each box to the length you sell and can produce several lengths in a single production run. For retail displays, a reinforced die-cut hanging tab sits where it won't tear under the bundle's hanging weight. Printing is available on both the inside and outside panels.

Hair Extension Boxes Sized to the Bundle Length

Hair extensions are an expensive purchase that customers inspect closely: they want to see the texture, check the length and judge the color match before committing. The box has to present hair that is long, soft and easily tangled while keeping it flat and orderly. A hair extension box is a long, shallow printed box for bundles, wefts, clip-ins or tape-ins, often with a hanging tab for retail. Buyers are hair brands selling online and through beauty supply stores, salons that retail their own extensions, and stylists building a private label. Most sell the same texture in several lengths, so the range is usually one design repeated across a handful of sizes.

Hair Extension Box Specs by Length and Weight

Extension boxes run on stiff printed card at the heavier end of the range, because a long, flat panel flexes more than a small carton does.

Spec Hair extension box
Board SBS coated board, 18–24pt
Length Set by the hair length you sell
Depth Shallow, for a bundle lying flat
Hanging tab Die-cut, placed and reinforced for weight
Print Inside and outside
Tolerance About ±0.5–1mm

Bundles are measured at full length, laid flat, with the weft included. Clip-in sets can sit on a card insert with one weft per row, which keeps the clips from catching on each other when the box is opened.

Why Extensions Hang From a Five-Panel Header

Most extension boxes headed for retail use a hanger with a five-panel header: the box folds from five panels, and the top one extends into a hanging tab. The result hangs face-forward on a peg, so the full front artwork is visible rather than the edge of a flat box. That matters in beauty supply stores, where extensions are usually displayed on walls of pegs rather than shelves, and where a shopper scans many brands at once. The five-panel build also keeps the bundle flat at full length while it hangs. Brands selling only online don't need the tab, and a plain long, flat box costs less. Some make both versions from shared artwork.

Inside-and-Out Print for Hair Extension Packaging

Extension boxes have large flat panels, which suits bold photography and full-bleed color. Photography prints in CMYK, and a brand color can be held as a Pantone spot. Printing the interior is common: a pattern, care instructions or a styling tip seen as the customer lifts the hair out. A window lets texture show through, though it removes printable space and can let dust reach the hair on a retail wall. Gloss or matte lamination helps a box survive repeated handling on a peg. Foil on the brand name works well against a dark field. Skip very fine type on the hanging tab, since that panel takes the most wear, and keep the length and texture callouts large enough to read from a step back.

Hair Extension Boxes for Salons, Stylists and Online Stores

Online hair brands sell bundle deals of two or three lengths, each in its own box, with a matching design across the set. Beauty supply retail needs peg-ready boxes with a clear length and texture callout on the front. Salons retail extensions after an install and want boxes under their own name. Stylists building a private label usually start with one texture in a few lengths and add more as it sells. Clip-in and tape-in sets sold as a kit use a single box with a card insert. Many extension brands grow out of fashion retail, and their packaging follows the logic of fashion accessory brands: one consistent look across everything a customer unboxes.

What to Send Us to Quote Hair Extension Boxes

A quote needs four things: the lengths you sell, the weight of a bundle at each length, whether the boxes will hang on pegs, and your artwork or a rough idea of it. We build each dieline from those dimensions and confirm the internal sizes in writing before proofing. Design help is unlimited and free. Once the proof is approved, production takes 8–12 business days, with rush available at extra cost, priced upfront. Dies, plates and setup are part of the quote, and shipping is included. Our three-stage check catches a tab placed in the wrong spot before dispatch. The minimum is 100 boxes, and a bulk run that doesn't match its proof comes back to us to reprint, at no charge to you.

What brands say about this box

Answers before you have to ask.

How do you stop bundles creasing in the box?

By running the box long and flat rather than deep. Bundles crease when they're folded to fit, so the box is sized to the hair's length. For retail, we add a hanging tab so it displays without bending.

Can extension boxes hang on a retail peg?

Yes. A die-cut hanging tab holds the weight of a bundle if it's positioned and reinforced properly. Tell us the bundle weight and we'll place the tab where it won't tear under load.

Do extension boxes come in different lengths?

Yes. We build to the length you sell — the box is sized to the hair so bundles lie flat rather than folding. If you carry several lengths, we can produce matching boxes at different sizes in one run.

How long do hair extension boxes take?

Around 8–12 business days from proof approval, whatever lengths you're running. Rush is available at an extra cost stated upfront, and shipping is included in the price.

What's your minimum on extension boxes?

100 boxes, at whatever length you sell. If you carry several lengths, running them together shares the setup cost and gives you matching packaging across the range.

Tell us what you're shipping. We'll tell you what it should ship in.
