Eyeliner Boxes
Slim pencils, wider liquid pens and short gel pots don't fit the same empty carton, so eyeliner boxes holding several formats need a die-cut insert with a dedicated cavity for each. A die-cut hanging tab lets the box hang from a retail display peg. They're among the most economical boxes we make, and the 100-box minimum suits a product line you're still market-testing.

Eyeliner Boxes for Pencils, Pens and Gel Pots
Eyeliner is a low-priced, high-variety product: a brand might carry black, brown and a handful of colors in a pencil, then add a liquid pen and a gel pot as the line matures. An eyeliner box is the folding carton that holds one of these, or a combination, in a size close to the product. Buyers are makeup brands building out an eye range, brands selling through drugstores and beauty retailers where products hang on pegs, and salon and makeup-artist labels. Because unit prices are low, packaging cost per unit matters more here than on most cosmetics, and the box has to earn its place without adding much to the shelf price.
Eyeliner Box Specs and Cavity Layouts by Format
Every eyeliner format runs on lightweight coated card, SBS at 14–16pt with a tolerance of about ±0.5–1mm. What changes from one format to the next is the shape of the carton and what sits inside it.
| Format | Carton and insert |
|---|---|
| Pencil | Long, slim carton; no insert for one pencil |
| Liquid pen | Slightly wider carton, sized to the cap |
| Gel pot | Short, squarer carton |
| Mixed set | Die-cut insert, one cavity per format |
| Retail option | Hanging tab in the same board |
Pencils with a sharpener cap or smudger end are measured with the cap on. Reverse tuck and a hanging tab can share the same dieline.
Why Eyeliner Stays in a Close-Fit Folding Carton
Eyeliner is boxed in a slim folding carton for the same reason it's priced as it is: volume. A folding carton is the lowest-cost structure per unit, it stores flat until packing, and it takes a hanging tab without any extra parts. A close fit matters because a pencil in an oversized box shifts, and the tip can snap against the end panel; a carton cut to the pencil holds it still with no insert at all. Rigid boxes and tins make sense only for gift sets, and even then the liner usually sits inside a larger kit box. For a single product on a peg or shelf, the folding carton is the default, and most brands never move off it.
Print and Hanging Tabs on Eyeliner Packaging
Eyeliner cartons are read from the front at arm's length on a peg, so the shade name and a color swatch usually take the top of the face, with the logo below. Both CMYK and spot Pantone are on offer; a swatch printed as a Pantone spot comes closer to the real shade than CMYK on a small panel. A hanging tab is cut from the same board as the carton, with a hole sized to a standard retail peg, and the back of the tab can carry a barcode or a brand line. Foil and spot UV are available, though on a low-priced liner many brands skip them and put the money into a stronger color design instead.
Eyeliner Boxes for New Lines, Duos and Retail Pegs
Brands testing an eye range start with one or two pencils in a simple carton before committing to a full shade lineup. Drugstore and beauty retail accounts usually require peg-ready packaging, so the tab is built in from the first order. Liner and mascara pairs go into a two-cavity carton, and eye makeup gift duos at holiday time often add a small sharpener or brush. Makeup artists and salons selling their own liners order short runs in several colors. Waterproof and long-wear variants reuse the same carton with a different band of color, which keeps a growing range consistent without new tooling.
Eyeliner Box Ordering, Checks and Shipping
Send each format you sell, or its length, width and cap size, and tell us whether you need a hanging tab. We build the dieline, confirm the internal measurements in writing, and send a proof for approval. Artwork help is unlimited and costs nothing. Production takes 8–12 business days once the proof is signed off, and rush is available at extra cost, priced before you order. The quote covers dies, plates and setup, with nothing added after. Each carton passes a three-stage check, so a tab punched in the wrong place never reaches a retail wall. Shipping is included, and the minimum is 100 boxes. If the bulk run doesn't match the approved proof, the reprint is on us.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.
Read all reviews on Trustpilot(opens in a new tab)Answers before you have to ask.
Can one box fit pencils and liquid pens?
Yes, though they need different cavities. Pencils are slimmer than liquid pens and gel pots are shorter and wider, so a shared box works best with a cut insert rather than an empty carton. Send us each format and we'll lay it out.
Can eyeliner boxes have a hanging tab?
Yes. A die-cut hanging tab lets the box sit on a peg, which matters if you sell through retail as well as online. We add it to the dieline so it's part of the structure rather than stuck on afterwards.
Are eyeliner boxes cost-effective at low volume?
They're among the most economical boxes we make, because the format is small and the board light. That makes them a sensible place to start if you're testing a new line — our minimum is 100, so you can trial without committing.
How soon can eyeliner boxes ship?
Usually 8–12 business days from proof approval, and reorders move quickly once your dimensions are on file. Rush is available at extra cost, quoted upfront, with shipping included.
Can eyeliner boxes be reordered quickly?
Yes. Once your dimensions and artwork are on file, reorders are quick and need no new proof unless you change something. Most run in about 8–12 business days, with rush available.
