Champagne Boxes
Champagne boxes are sized for a heavier bottle with a wider base and broader neck, because a box built for still wine won't close over the cork or hold the base securely. That additional weight flexes a standard base, so we rate the board to the actual filled weight. Bottle-and-glass gift sets fit comfortably with a combined insert. Seasonal holiday runs start at 100 boxes.

Sized for Sparkling Wine, Prosecco and Cava
Champagne boxes are for any sparkling wine sold in the heavier bottle the style requires: champagne itself, prosecco, cava, crémant and sparkling cider. The buyers are sparkling producers, wine shops with a celebration range, event planners and companies sending a bottle to mark a deal or a launch. These bottles are bought to be opened at a particular moment, so the box usually arrives at the party with them and sits on the table beside the glasses. That gives the box two jobs at once: holding a heavy bottle safely on the way, and looking right when it's opened. Most orders are for a single bottle, and some pair it with one or two glasses.
Bottle Height, Base Width and Board Specs for Sparkling Wine
The gift version uses heavier rigid stock rated to the filled bottle, and a corrugated build covers sparkling wine that ships.
| Spec | Rigid build | Corrugated build |
|---|---|---|
| Board | 2–3mm grayboard, wrapped | Double-wall corrugated, BC flute |
| Cradle | Foam or pulp | Molded pulp or die-cut corrugated |
| Fit tolerance | Around ±1mm | Around ±1mm |
| Height | Cut to bottle, cork and cage | Cut to bottle, cork and cage |
| Configuration | Single bottle, or bottle and glass | Cut to your bottle count |
The base cavity is cut to the bottle's widest point, which on most sparkling bottles sits lower and wider than on still wine.
The Case for a Round Tube on Sparkling Wine
A sparkling bottle is a cylinder with a heavy punted base, and a round tube with a lift-off cap follows that shape instead of boxing air into four corners. That is why champagne boxes are commonly made as tubes: the bottle slides in base first, the insert holds the neck, and the cap covers the cork and cage without pressing on them. A tube also stands out on a shelf of square boxes. Where it falls short is stacking and shipping. Round tubes waste space inside an outer carton and roll if laid down, so producers sending sparkling wine through a parcel network are better served by a corrugated shipper, with the tube kept for gifts handed over in person.
Foil and Finish on a Celebration Bottle Box
Celebration packaging usually looks best restrained: a matte wrap in a dark or cream tone with one foil mark, rather than a fully printed tube. Foil also carries a date or a couple's names well for wedding orders, which run as a short digital print with foil added afterward, so small personalized batches don't carry full plate costs. Emboss suits the rigid build only. On corrugated, keep to one or two printed colors on the kraft liner and leave decoration out. A soft-touch coat on the rigid wrap gives a velvety feel without changing the color underneath. Keep a panel free for whatever your market requires on alcohol packaging; you confirm what applies, and we print it.
Where Champagne Boxes Earn Their Place: Weddings, New Year, Launches
Weddings are the biggest single use: a bottle for the top table, bottles for parents and the wedding party, or a bottle-and-two-glasses set as a thank-you. New Year's Eve and holiday trade follow, when wine shops and producers stock a boxed sparkling range for walk-in buyers. Companies order them to mark a product launch, a closed deal or a work anniversary, often with the company logo in foil. Hotels and event venues use them for bottles guests take home. All of these sit within the wider run of New Year and wedding celebration gifts, where the box is part of the occasion. For a still-wine gift, a standard bottle box fits better, because a sparkling box will leave a narrower bottle loose.
Measuring a Sparkling Bottle Before the Dieline
Measure with the foil capsule and wire cage in place; that is the tallest point of the bottle and the one most often left off. Send us the height, the base diameter and the filled weight, and we build the dieline and confirm in writing whether the figures are internal or external. A rigid build takes 20 business days from proof approval, and corrugated runs take 8–12. Rush is available on both at an extra cost quoted upfront. Design help is free and unlimited until the proof is right, and every box goes through a three-stage check before it ships, with shipping included in the price. The minimum order is 100 boxes.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.

Why do champagne boxes need different dimensions?
Because a champagne bottle is heavier, wider at the base and has a broader neck and cork. A box sized for a standard wine bottle won't close over the cork or hold the base securely.
Can champagne boxes hold a glass too?
Yes, with a fitted insert cut for both. Bottle-and-glass gift sets are common, though the box gets considerably larger and heavier, so the base needs specifying for the weight.
Do champagne boxes need stronger board?
Yes, usually. A champagne bottle is significantly heavier than a standard wine bottle, so a box specified for still wine will flex at the base. We rate the board to the actual filled weight.
How long do champagne boxes take?
Around 8–12 business days once the proof is approved, cradle included. Rush production is available at an added cost we'll quote before you order.
What's the minimum on champagne boxes?
100 boxes. Champagne boxes are often seasonal, so the low minimum makes a holiday run practical without committing to year-round volume.
