Slice Pizza Boxes
Slice pizza boxes are built for single-slice service, where the tip folds over the toppings as soon as the board flexes. Base and flute are sized to support the whole slice flat. A grease-proof face matters more than on a whole pie box, because oil concentrates on a small patch of board. Bold one- or two-color printing on kraft liner reproduces best through the flute.

Slice Pizza Boxes for Food Eaten Walking Away From the Counter
Pizza by the slice is sold to people who don't sit down. They order at a counter or a window, pay, and leave with the slice in one hand, often eating it before the end of the block. That is a different job from a whole pie, which rides flat on a car seat and gets opened on a kitchen table. Slice shops, food courts, stadium and event vendors, and late-night windows buy these because a paper plate fails the moment the customer starts walking, and a full pie box is too big and costs too much for one serving. The box has to stay shut while it is carried at an angle, open with one hand, and work as the plate once the customer stops.
Slice Box Specs: Flute, Grease Face, Vents and Span
Slice boxes are built on flute-graded slice board, with the flute chosen for the span of your slice rather than for stacking strength.
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Board | Corrugated with kraft liner |
| Flute | B-flute (about 3.2mm) as standard; E-flute for lighter builds |
| Inner face | Grease-resistant |
| Venting | Die-cut vents |
| Size | Cut to your slice dimensions |
| Tolerance | ±1/16" (1.5mm) |
Measure your largest slice from tip to crust and across the crust edge. If you sell more than one slice size, measure each, and we confirm internal dimensions in writing before the dieline is cut.
Why a Flat Tray Base Keeps a Slice Level
A slice box is commonly built on a flat tray base with a lid closing over it, and each part of that build solves a counter problem. The slice rests on a floor instead of being folded into a pocket or wrapped in a sleeve, so its shape survives the walk. The lid sits above the toppings rather than on them, so the cheese isn't pulled away when the box opens. And once the lid folds back, the tray floor becomes the plate, which is what a customer eating on a bench or a curb actually needs. A paper sleeve costs less and is fine for a slice eaten within a minute at the counter. Anything carried farther than a few steps does better on a tray.
One- and Two-Color Flexo on a Box Held in One Hand
Print on a slice box gets read in two places: on the lid while it is carried down the street, and on the inside of the lid once it is folded back. Available here is one- or two-color flexo on the outer kraft liner, with food-safe ink on any face near the food. A large logo on the lid works best, since the customer's hand covers much of the base. The inside of the lid is a good spot for the shop's address, hours or a slice-and-drink offer, because it is in view the whole time the slice is eaten. Not worth it here: lamination, which traps steam and works against the vents, and foil, spot UV or soft-touch, which have no return on a box used for ten minutes.
Slice Boxes for By-the-Slice Shops, Food Courts and Event Stands
Pizza-by-the-slice shops on busy streets are the core buyers, along with the lunch-rush pizzerias that run a slice special next to their whole pies. Food courts and mall counters use them to send customers to shared seating. Stadiums, arenas, festivals and fairs use them at concession stands, where people carry food back to their seats through a crowd. College dining halls, convenience stores and gas stations with hot-food counters sell single slices to customers on their way somewhere else. Bars serving late-night slices use them too. All of these sit within counter-service and takeout food, where speed at the window matters as much as the food, and the box is often the only branded item a walk-up customer takes away.
Adding Slice Service Without Ordering Pie-Box Volumes
For most pizzerias, the slice box is a second item next to the pie boxes they already buy, and it can be quoted on the same artwork. Orders start at 100 boxes. Design help is free and unlimited, which covers adapting your pie-box logo to the smaller lid. Slice boxes take 8–12 business days from proof approval, and rush is available at extra cost, quoted upfront. Dies, plates and setup are inside the quote, and shipping is included. Every run passes a three-stage check before dispatch, and if the bulk order doesn't match your approved proof, we reprint it at our cost. Shops placing larger orders, above 10,000 boxes, get free samples to test with a few slices first.

What brands say about this box

How does a slice box stop the tip folding over?
With a base rigid enough to support the whole slice flat. A tip folds when the board flexes under the weight of toppings, so the flute and the base span matter more than the lid. We size the box to your slice dimensions.
Can slice boxes be printed in full color?
They can, though the flute limits fine detail. The wave beneath the liner telegraphs through and softens small type, so bold shapes reproduce far better. One or two colors on kraft liner is the usual and most economical choice.
Does a slice box need to be grease-resistant?
Yes, and it matters more here than on a whole pie box. A single slice sits directly on a small area of board, so oil concentrates and soaks through quickly. Without a grease-proof face the base fails before the customer sits down.
How long do slice pizza boxes take?
Most orders are ready in about 8–12 business days once you approve the proof. Rush production is available at an extra cost, quoted upfront, with shipping included in the price.
What's the minimum order for slice pizza boxes?
100 boxes. That suits a single-location pizzeria adding slice service without committing to volume, and reorders are quick once your dimensions and artwork are on file.
