Kraft Pastry Boxes
Laminated pastries release a lot of butter, so kraft pastry boxes always carry a grease-proof face; without it, unbleached board stains within minutes. A window works well in kraft, where brown board contrasts attractively with pale pastries and golden bakes. Slight tone variation between batches is normal for natural stock. Small artisan production runs start at just 100 boxes.

Kraft Pastry Boxes for Bakers Whose Brand Is Already Brown
Many bakeries arrive at kraft because everything else about them is already brown: paper bags, wooden boards, stamped labels, flour sacks stacked by the oven. A white box in that setting looks like a supplier's packaging. Kraft pastry boxes keep the counter consistent from the case to the customer's hand. The buyers are artisan and small-batch bakers, viennoiserie specialists, and cafés that bake their own. One clarification matters for anyone comparing options: kraft is the unbleached stock itself, not a brown color printed onto white board. That's why it looks the way it does, and why it takes ink differently from coated board.
Kraft Pastry Box Build: Brown Outside, Grease-Proof Inside
Outside, it's unbleached pastry stock; inside, a grease-proof coating on the face that touches product.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Stock | Unbleached kraft, food-grade |
| Caliper | 18–24pt |
| Inside face | Grease-proof coating |
| One or two colors | |
| Window | Optional, film-backed |
| Tolerance | Around ±1/16" (1.5mm) |
Kraft is unbleached pulp and recycles easily, though the coating type can affect that. If the box needs to meet a specific recycling screen, tell us at the quote stage and we'll specify for it. Without the coating, kraft is the wrong board for pastry, so we don't offer an uncoated version for this product.
Where Kraft Beats Coated White for Laminated Pastry
Laminated dough is the hardest test a pastry box faces. Croissants, pain au chocolat and kouign-amann release butter as they cool, and unprotected board shows it fast. With a grease-proof face, kraft handles that butter as well as white board does, because the protection comes from the coating, not the stock. So the choice is about look and cost, not performance. Kraft usually costs slightly less than coated board and matches a natural brand, while coated board wins if your brand depends on an exact color. These are commonly made with a base that locks as it opens, which stays flat under a full box. For one- or two-color branding, kraft is the sensible buy.
Window Contrast and Two-Ink Print on Kraft
A window in kraft works especially well for pastry. The brown board frames pale and golden bakes with more contrast than white board does, so a croissant looks richer through the film. For branding, one or two inks suit kraft best; a dark color for the logo and a second for detail is the common approach. Full-color artwork prints muddy on the brown base and is rarely worth paying for. Simple line artwork reads naturally on kraft and holds up better than fine detail. Food-safe inks are used anywhere near product. Lamination isn't a good fit here: it hides the texture that made you choose kraft and traps moisture on warm pastry.
Kraft Pastry Boxes for Farmers Markets and Artisan Food Stalls
Farmers markets are where kraft pastry boxes are most at home. A stall selling croissants and morning buns beside bread and preserves wants packaging that matches the table, and kraft does. Artisan food sellers who sell pastry alongside other products use kraft across their whole range for the same reason. Small bakeries selling viennoiserie at the counter use it as their main box. Cafés baking their own pastries like it because it sits naturally beside paper cups and bags. Organic and whole-grain bakeries choose it because their customers expect unbleached materials. Where it fits less well is the high-color patisserie, where a coated box shows the brand better.
Batch-to-Batch Tone and Small Artisan Runs
Expect small tone differences from one delivery to the next, because unbleached fiber isn't uniform. What stays fixed is the specification: board grade, coating and ink references are recorded on approval and reused on every reorder. The minimum is 100 boxes, so you can order in quantities that follow your bake schedule rather than storing months of stock in a small back room. Design help is unlimited and free, which helps when you're getting two-color artwork right on brown board. Production takes 8–12 business days from proof approval, with rush available at an extra cost stated first. Dies, plates and setup are in the quote, with no hidden costs, and shipping is included.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.
Read all reviews on Trustpilot(opens in a new tab)Answers before you have to ask.
Does kraft suit laminated and buttery pastries?
Yes, with a grease-proof face. Laminated pastries release a lot of butter, which is exactly what that coating handles. Without it kraft stains within minutes and the box looks used before it's delivered.
Can kraft pastry boxes have a window?
Yes. Bear in mind a window in kraft creates strong contrast between the brown board and the product, which usually works in your favor for pale pastries and golden bakes.
Does kraft look consistent across reorders?
Closely, though kraft is unbleached and natural, so slight tone variation between batches is normal. We hold your spec on file, and every run passes a three-stage check before dispatch.
How soon can kraft pastry boxes ship?
About 8–12 business days from proof approval. Rush production is available at an extra cost we'll state first, with shipping included rather than added later.
Can kraft pastry boxes be ordered in small runs?
Yes, from 100 boxes. Kraft suits smaller artisan bakeries particularly well, and the low minimum means you can match your packaging to your batch sizes.
