Kraft Bakery Boxes

Kraft bakery boxes handle butter as well as white board, because the grease-proof face does that work, not the unbleached stock underneath. What changes is appearance: natural brown that suits artisan and sourdough bakeries, printed best in one or two colors. Kraft recycles easily, though some grease coatings affect that, so tell us if you need to meet a specific recyclability screen.

Kraft Bakery Boxes for Bread, Sourdough and Artisan Counters

Bread sells on looking unfussy, and a glossy printed box can work against a loaf with a floured crust and a hand-scored top. Kraft bakery boxes are bought by bakeries whose brand is the process: long ferments, stone-ground flour, a chalkboard menu that changes daily. The brown board says that before a word is printed, which is why so many artisan counters use a single stamp-style logo and leave the rest plain. The other regular buyers are farmers' market sellers and home bakers moving into their first shop. For them, a natural box sits right beside hand-lettered signage and keeps print costs low while the business is still working out its weekly volume.

Kraft Bakery Box Build: Unbleached Board, Coated Face

Unbleached stock with a coating on the side that touches product: that's grease-faced kraft board, and it's what every box here starts from.

Spec Detail
Board Unbleached kraft folding board, 18–24pt
Inside face Grease-proof coating
Heavier orders E- or B-flute corrugated
Print One or two colors
Size Cut to your product's dimensions
Tolerance ±1/16" (1.5mm)

Kraft is a natural stock, so slight tone variation between batches is normal and comes from the board, not the print. Loaves and heavier multi-item orders that would bow a folding base step up to the corrugated build rather than a thicker folding board.

When Unbleached Stock Beats Coated White for Bakery

Choose kraft when the product supplies the color and the box only has to look honest beside it. Golden crusts, caramelized edges and seeded tops look warmer against brown than against bright white, and brown board shows handling marks less than a white face does after a day on a busy counter. Kraft bakery boxes are commonly made as a one-motion auto-bottom, which pops open and locks its base without tape, so a loaf or a set of rolls goes in fast. The case against kraft is narrow but real. If a photograph has to sell the product, or your logo depends on an exact brand color, coated white will serve you better, and no coating on kraft changes that.

One- and Two-Color Printing on Brown Board

Brown board absorbs ink, so dark colors read best and pale ones sink into it. Black, deep brown, forest green and navy hold their edges; pastels and light grays lose contrast and look washed out. A one-color stamp logo is the classic kraft look and the cheapest to run. Two colors give contrast for a tagline or border without the cost of full CMYK. Full-color photography is where kraft struggles: images print darker and muddier than on coated board, so keep pictures off it. Food-safe inks apply to every surface. A die-cut window works well, since pale pastries stand out against the brown frame. Leave foil and embossing for a different stock; the natural look is the point here.

Kraft Bakery Boxes on Café and Coffee Counters

Kraft is the default wherever brown paper is already the house style. Bakeries that also roast or serve specialty coffee pair kraft boxes with kraft cups and bags, and on café and coffee counters it's common to see a pastry box printed with the same one-color stamp as the bean bag beside it. Sourdough and bread bakeries use kraft for loaves, focaccia slabs and bakes sold by the piece. Farmers' market traders use it because it looks right on a trestle table next to wooden crates. Wholesale bakeries supplying several cafés often run plain kraft with a printed sticker, so one stock covers every account and only the label changes.

Ordering Kraft With Plates and Setup Already Priced

Each ink on a printed carton needs its own printing plate, and that's where some quotes add charges after the fact. Ours don't. Dies, plates and setup are in the quote from the start, so a two-color kraft box is priced as a two-color kraft box. Design help is free and unlimited, and worth using here, since artwork drawn for a white screen often needs adjusting to hold contrast on brown. You approve a proof before anything prints. Production takes 8–12 business days from approval, with rush available at extra cost that we state before you order. Shipping is already part of the price.

What brands say about this box

Answers before you have to ask.

Does kraft handle grease as well as white board?

Yes, because the grease resistance comes from the coating rather than the stock. Kraft with a grease-proof face handles butter exactly as well as white board. The difference is how it looks and how color prints, not performance.

Are kraft bakery boxes recyclable?

Yes. Kraft is unbleached pulp and recycles easily. A grease-resistant coating can affect that depending on the type used, so tell us if you need to meet a specific screen and we'll spec accordingly.

Is kraft cheaper than coated board?

Usually slightly, since coated board is bleached and treated. The gap narrows at volume. The better question is what you need — if your brand depends on accurate color, kraft costs you more in appearance than it saves.

How soon can kraft bakery boxes be made?

Usually 8–12 business days after you sign off the proof. There's a rush lane when a deadline is tight, priced upfront, and shipping comes included with free design help.

What's the minimum on kraft bakery boxes?

100 boxes. That suits small bakeries and home businesses as well as established counters reordering a staple. Free samples are available on orders above 10,000 units.
