Taper Candle Boxes
Taper candle boxes have to run the full length of the candle so it lies flat and supported, because folding or angling a taper snaps it. Long spans flex in the middle, so dividers or a reinforced base matter more than heavier board. Multi-candle sets receive individual dividers sized to your candle diameter and count. Seasonal and occasion designs start at just 100 boxes.

Taper Candle Boxes Start With One Measurement: Length
Tapers are bought for the table, usually in pairs, sometimes in sets of four or six for a long dinner. They're slender, often colored all the way through, and they show every mark. A dent near the base stops a taper standing straight in its holder, and a chipped tip is obvious in candlelight. That makes the box a different job from a jar candle box. There's no heavy vessel to hold still, but there is a long, thin product to keep straight, separated and unmarked from packing to table. The buyers are chandlers pouring dipped or molded tapers, home-decor brands, and seasonal gift sellers who add tapers to a holiday range.
Taper Box Length, Divider Spacing and Base Support
The box is cut to the taper's full length with a small allowance, and the dividers are commonly made from thin, dense divider stock, which takes up little width between candles.
| Attribute | Specification |
|---|---|
| Length | Full candle length plus allowance |
| Dividers | Spaced to each candle's diameter |
| Count | Single, pair or multi-candle sets |
| Base | Reinforced for long spans |
| Box tolerance | ±1mm |
| Measurement | Internal vs external confirmed in writing |
Send us the overall length, including the wick, and the widest diameter, which on a molded taper is usually near the base. If you sell more than one length, tell us each one so we can check whether they can share a tray.
Why Tapers Ride in a Divided Tray
Inside nearly every taper box we make sits a slotted divider tray, with the outer box closing over it. The tray holds each candle in a channel along its full length, so the candles stay parallel and can't roll into each other as the box is carried, tipped or stood on end on a shelf. A paper band or a simple wrap around a bundle of tapers costs less, but it leaves the candles touching, and colored tapers rub marks onto each other where they meet. The tray also makes a pair of tapers look like a matched set rather than a bundle, which matters when they're sold as a gift. For a single taper sold loose at a market, a plain long carton can be enough.
Using the Long Panel on a Taper Box
A taper box is an unusual shape to print: a long, narrow lid and two long sides. The lid is the main panel, and a logo at one end with a band of color running the length suits the proportion better than a centered block. The long side is where the color name and candle length belong, since that's the face shown when boxes are stacked on a shelf. Coated board takes full color and lamination, while kraft suits one or two colors for a natural line. Foil works well on a narrow strip. A window along the lid can show the candle colors, though the tray then has to keep the tapers clear of the film so they don't press against it.
Taper Candle Boxes for Table Settings, Pairs and Holiday Sets
Most tapers end up on a table, bought in pairs to match a set of candlesticks for dinners, weddings and holidays. Brands also sell them as dinner-party hostess gifts, a pair in a long box that can be handed over at the door without wrapping. Holiday sets in seasonal colors, such as red and green or gold and white, are a common seasonal line, often sold in fours. Florists and event planners buy taper sets in quantity to match a wedding palette, sometimes in boxes printed with the couple's colors. Home-decor shops stock tapers by color, so a consistent box with a clearly printed shade name helps them keep the display organized.
Ordering Tapers for One Season at 100 Boxes
Tapers sell around occasions, so many brands run a design for a single season rather than all year. A run of 100 boxes covers that without leaving stock sitting in storage. Allow 8–12 business days after you sign the proof, dividers and all; if that's too long, rush costs extra and we'll give you the figure first. If you're launching several colors at once, we can set up one structure with a printed panel that changes by color, so the boxes can run together. Design help and proofing are free and unlimited. Every box goes through a three-stage check before it ships, shipping is included in the price, and if the run doesn't match your approved proof, we reprint at no cost to you.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.

Why do taper boxes need to be so long?
Because the candle has to lie flat and unsupported along its length. A box sized shorter means folding or angling the candle, which snaps it. The length is the whole structural requirement.
Can taper boxes hold more than one candle?
Yes, with dividers. Multi-candle taper sets are common, and each candle needs separating or they knock and chip along their length. We lay out dividers to your candle diameter and count.
Do taper boxes need a heavier board?
Usually not heavier, but longer spans need support. A long box flexes in the middle under its own length, so dividers or a reinforced base matter more than caliper for taper candles.
How long do taper candle boxes take?
Around 8–12 business days once the proof is approved, dividers included. Rush is available at an extra cost we'll quote before you order.
What's the minimum on taper candle boxes?
100 boxes. Taper sets are often seasonal or occasion-led, so the low minimum means you can run a design without committing to year-round volume.
