Kraft Snap Lock Boxes
Kraft snap lock boxes give the interlocking base an unbleached surface for natural and artisan ranges, with strength unchanged, since that comes from caliper and how the flaps lock. Kraft absorbs ink, so colors read muted and warmer than on coated board; natural brands lose nothing, color-led brands lose a lot. Orders from 100 boxes match smaller batch sizes comfortably.

Interlocking Base, Bare Paper Surface
Nobody picks a kraft snap lock for anything the base does differently. They pick it for how the box looks and feels in the hand. The board is unbleached pulp with its fiber left visible, and the interlocking floor beneath it works exactly as it would on any other stock.
The buyers are usually makers whose product already carries a natural story: small bakeries, soap studios, tea blenders, farm-shop food ranges. For them a bright white carton would contradict everything else on the counter. The brief tends to be short. One logo, perhaps a second ink for the product name, and a box that looks as if it came from the same workshop as what's inside it.
Kraft Board Weights for a Hand-Locked Base
| Spec | Kraft snap lock |
|---|---|
| Stock | Unbleached kraft paperboard |
| Caliper | 14–18pt for light items, 18–24pt where the base carries more |
| Base | Four interlocking flaps, folded by hand |
| Surface | Uncoated, natural fiber tone |
| Tolerance | ±0.5–1mm |
| Sizing | Built to your product's internal dimensions |
The stock is unbleached pulp board at a caliper set by what goes in the box. Light, small items sit comfortably at the low end. Dense products, such as stacked soap bars or a full tray of biscuits, move up the range, because the flaps lock more firmly when the board resists bending. Beyond that, a fluted build is a better answer than ever-thicker carton board, and we'll tell you when you've reached that point.
When Unbleached Stock Is the Better Call
Unbleached stock makes sense when the box is meant to look unfussy, and that only works if the brand already looks that way. For artisan bakers with a plain-paper look, a kraft snap lock sits beside paper bags and handwritten labels without clashing, and the locked floor carries a dozen pastries out of the door.
It's the wrong call for a brand built on one precise color. A teal or a coral printed on kraft drifts toward olive or brick, because the sheet tints every ink laid on it. If that shift would bother you on a shelf, coated board is the honest recommendation. Kraft also shows scuffs and grease marks more readily than a laminated surface, which some makers like as part of the look and others don't.
One or Two Inks on an Absorbent Sheet
Kraft takes ink into the fiber instead of holding it on the surface, so print on this box is planned around absorption. One color, usually black or a dark brand tone, gives the cleanest result. A second color adds a product name or a band without the cost of full process print, and it reads as a deliberate choice on natural board.
Foil stamping works on kraft and reads crisp against the matte fiber, which makes it the one finish worth considering here. What doesn't suit the stock: photographs, gradients and fine reversed-out type, all of which fill in. Full color is possible but prints dull and warm. Lamination can be added, but it hides the very surface you chose kraft for, so most makers leave it off.
Makers Who Want the Box to Look Unprocessed
Kraft snap locks belong to small-batch producers selling direct, at markets or through independent shops. Bakers use them for cookies and brownies sold by the half dozen. Makers of handmade soap sold in gift sets use them to hold three or four bars together without shrink wrap.
Tea blenders box loose-leaf tins in them, chocolate makers bundle bars as gifts, and farm shops pair jam with honey. What these buyers share is a product just past what a tuck end can carry and a brand that reads homemade on purpose. A plain stamped logo on the lid often does all the branding they want, while the base does the practical work out of sight.
Proofing Kraft Artwork Before It Runs
Artwork for kraft is easier to get wrong than it looks on screen, so the proof step carries more weight here than on white board. Design help is free and unlimited. We'll suggest which elements to drop, how heavy your type needs to be to survive the absorption, and which of your brand colors will hold up on the brown fiber.
You approve a proof before anything runs, and if the bulk order doesn't match that approved proof, we reprint at our cost. Production is 8–12 business days from approval, with rush available at an extra cost quoted before you commit. Shipping is part of the price, and the die and setup are already in the quote rather than added afterward.

What brands say about this box
They live there rather than here, where we can't edit them, delete them, or pick which ones you get to see. That is exactly what makes them worth reading.
Read all reviews on Trustpilot(opens in a new tab)Answers before you have to ask.
Does kraft change how a snap lock performs?
Not structurally, since strength comes from caliper and how the flaps interlock. What changes is the surface — kraft absorbs ink, so colors read muted and warmer than on coated board.
Are kraft snap lock boxes recyclable?
Yes. Kraft is unbleached pulp and recycles easily. Any coating can affect that depending on type, so tell us if recyclability is a claim you're making publicly.
Is kraft cheaper than coated board?
Usually slightly, since coated board is bleached and treated. The gap narrows at volume, and the better question is fit — natural brands lose nothing with kraft, color-led brands lose a lot.
What's the turnaround on kraft snap lock boxes?
Around 8–12 business days from proof approval. Rush is available at an added cost stated before you order, with shipping included rather than added later.
What's the minimum on kraft snap lock boxes?
100 boxes. Kraft suits smaller and artisan brands, and the low minimum means you can match packaging orders to your actual batch sizes rather than overbuying.
