Collapsible Magnetic Closure Boxes
Collapsible magnetic closure boxes have scored walls that fold inward so the box stores flat, then pops back to square, keeping the rigid look without the storage problem rigid usually brings. The scored walls are slightly less stiff than solid ones, a difference most applications won't notice. Printing works as on any rigid wrap. Allow 20 business days from proof approval.

Rigid Packaging for Brands Without a Warehouse
Assembled rigid boxes take up the same space empty as they do full, so a delivery of a few hundred is mostly air. For a brand working out of a studio, a spare room or a shared unit, that alone is often why rigid gets ruled out.
The collapsible magnetic closure box keeps the rigid board and the magnetic flap but reaches you flat, packed in cartons that stack against a wall. Each one is opened up when an order comes in, and on the customer's table it looks the same as a box that was never folded. Buyers here are usually small luxury and gifting brands, online sellers packing from home, and anyone whose packaging has to share a shelf with their stock.
How the Scored Walls and Magnets Are Specified
The difference from a fixed magnetic box is in the walls, which are scored during the build so the box can go flat and come back to shape.
| Feature | Spec |
|---|---|
| Core | Grayboard, typically 2–3 mm, with scored walls |
| Delivered | Flat, opened to shape at your end |
| Closure | Concealed magnets in flap and front panel |
| Wrap | Printed paper, linen or textured paper |
| Size | Built to your product's measurements |
| Interior | Insert cut to the opened box's interior |
The scored rigid grayboard is the same board used in fixed builds; only the scoring changes. Size the insert to the internal dimensions of the opened box, which we confirm in writing at the dieline stage.
When Flat Storage Matters More Than Solid Walls
Choose this over a fixed magnetic box when space is the constraint. The trade is a small loss of wall stiffness against a large gain in storage, and it pays off wherever boxes sit for months before they're used: gift programs stored between seasons, corporate stock ordered once a year and drawn down slowly, or a launch box bought in one run to cover several reorders.
It also suits brands that send packaging on to a second location, such as a retail partner or a fulfillment service, who would otherwise be receiving pallets of assembled boxes. Where you pack every day and have room for the stock, a fixed rigid box is the simpler choice, because nobody has to open each one at the bench before it's filled.
Keeping Artwork Clear of the Collapse Points
The wrap is printed before it goes on, so foil, embossing, debossing, spot UV and soft-touch all stay available. What changes is where you put them.
The side walls fold every time the box goes flat, which makes them the wrong place for foil, since it cracks on a fold, or for a large solid color that will show a line along the score. The lid face and the front flap never fold, and that is where a logo or a foil mark belongs. Small type on a side wall works if it sits clear of the score. Soft-touch deserves a second thought if boxes will be folded and reopened more than once, because it scuffs where panels rub against each other in storage.
Seasonal and Pop-Up Sellers Who Store Flat
Fashion is the biggest user, and the reason is the stockroom. Clothing brands short on stockroom space use it for knitwear, scarves, silk pieces and accessories, then put the flat stock back on a shelf until the next collection lands.
Pop-up and market sellers carry a carton of flat boxes to an event and open them on the stall as they sell. Holiday gifting brands order one run before the season and keep the remainder flat for next year. Subscription businesses send the box once and suggest customers fold it away, which keeps it in the home rather than the recycling bin. Florists and stationery makers in small studios use it for the reason everyone else does: no room for empty boxes.
Ordering Collapsible Stock in Batches You Can Shelve
Because flat stock is easy to keep, many brands order more per run than they would with fixed boxes and draw it down over several months. If you'd rather start small, the minimum is still 100.
Allow 20 business days from proof approval. A rush slot costs extra, and we give you that figure before you commit. Every box goes through a three-stage check before it ships, so a scoring or wrap fault is caught by us rather than found by you halfway through the batch. If the bulk run doesn't match the proof you approved, we reprint it at our cost. Shipping is in the price, and because the boxes travel flat, the delivery fits into a corner rather than a room.

What brands say about this box

How does a collapsible magnetic box fold flat?
The walls are scored so they fold inward and the box collapses flat, then pops back to square when needed. It keeps the rigid look while removing the storage problem rigid normally brings.
Can collapsible boxes be printed in full color?
Yes, exactly as a standard rigid box can. The scoring that allows folding doesn't affect the printed wrap, though we position creases away from critical artwork where possible.
Are collapsible boxes as sturdy as fixed rigid?
Close, but not identical. A collapsible box has scored walls, which are slightly less rigid than solid ones. For most uses the difference isn't noticeable, and the storage saving is substantial.
How long do collapsible magnetic boxes take?
20 business days from proof approval. The scoring that lets it collapse is part of the rigid build and doesn't extend the timeline. Rush is available at a quoted cost.
Can collapsible boxes be ordered in small runs?
Yes, from 100 boxes. Collapsible builds suit brands short on storage, and the low minimum means you can trial whether the format solves that before scaling.
